Aurora hires talented people with diverse backgrounds who are ready to help build a transportation ecosystem that will make our roads safer, get crucial goods where they need to go, and make mobility more efficient and accessible for all. We’re searching for a Product Designer II. This person will partner closely with senior leaders, engineers, product managers, and designers to streamline and scale internal processes and tools to help us bring the Aurora Driver to market. You should have a passion for human-centered design, starting with empathy for users and work to tailor your design solutions to meet their needs. You know how to tame complexity and dive into technically complex challenges to find patterns, deconstruct them into manageable chunks, and communicate concepts and ideas with simple, clear language and visuals. You enjoy the give and take of collaboration, sharing your work early and often for feedback and benefit from drawing out a variety of perspectives to diversify your thinking.

In this role you will

  • Design the end-to-end user experience for tools used to operate and manage self-driving vehicles.
  • Leverage usability insights to guide your involvement across a large solution space.
  • Collaborate with Product Designers, UX Researchers, Product Managers, Engineers and Technical Program Managers to define requirements and translate them into effective solutions.
  • Take charge of the design process to plan, scope, define and deliver high-quality interfaces.
  • Generate concepts and prototypes to envision potential solutions, get feedback on design iterations, and validate emerging concepts.
  • Partner with engineers to ensure your solutions are feasible and ship with high quality.
  • Proactively conduct discovery research and evaluative research on existing solutions to identify gaps and opportunities to improve the user experience.

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3+ years of product design experience.
  • A portfolio showing your high quality, thoughtful UI and UX work.
  • Experience with Figma or related digital design and prototyping software.
  • Experience working with qualitative and quantitative data to ground your decisions.
  • Experience translating insights from user studies into meaningful action.
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas to the team and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with people from all disciplines and levels.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Ability to create an elegant visual design with thoughtful composition.
  • Ability to travel 10% of time.

The base salary range for this position is $108,000-162,000 per year. Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
