Lead UX/UI Designer

Location: Remote, hybrid, or on-site in Austin, TX

Finding Focus (www.findingfocus.app) is a joint initiative between UT Austin, UTHealth Houston, and UC Santa Barbara. Over the last seven years, our team has created an online tool that helps teens improve their focus and emotional resilience. We’ve built a custom digital learning platform that allows this tool to be personalized to each student and delivered seamlessly in school settings.

Finding Focus is funded by the U.S. Department of Education, as well as several foundations and philanthropists. It’s currently offered to schools at no charge. To date, we’ve reached more than 40,000 high school students across over 100 schools. Peer-reviewed scientific studies have established that Finding Focus can improve the focus and well-being of teens.

Our overarching mission is to leverage emerging technologies to eventually improve the well-being of millions of teens across the globe. We’re looking for a highly capable, resourceful, self-motivated UX/UI expert who can help us realize this aspiration.

Is your experience a good fit?

  • 5+ years of professional experience in UX/UI design
  • Demonstrable expertise in both UX and UI design
  • Experience working in EdTech or designing AI-enabled products is preferred

How will you contribute:

  • Collaborate on product vision and feature prioritization
  • Lead the UX/UI design process from concept to implementation across multiple projects
  • Design intuitive, user-centered interfaces for web and mobile applications
  • Lead design meetings and integrate feedback from cross-functional teams
  • Contribute to ongoing user research and usability testing
  • If desired, co-author peer-reviewed articles with insights from our research studies

What we offer:

  • Flexible work schedule (30-40 hours/week)
  • $40 to $60+ per hour based on your demonstrated level of expertise
