The Role

We are seeking a Principal Product Designer who will set the vision for user experience across the entire public safety software portfolio. The Principal Product Designer will influence product strategy, lead design initiatives for multiple product lines, and establish design culture and standards. You will also focus on high-level strategic impact while also contributing to complex design challenges and mentoring design leadership.

What You Do

  • Define the design vision and strategy for the full product portfolio, aligning with business goals and customer needs.
  • Lead high-impact design initiatives spanning multiple product lines, influencing product strategy and experience at a portfolio level.
  • Mentor and coach Staff and Senior designers, cultivating design leadership across the organization.
  • Oversee design systems, accessibility standards, and UI/UX practices across all products, ensuring consistency and excellence.
  • Partner with product leadership to identify opportunities to improve user experience, operational efficiency, and engagement across products.
  • Conduct high-level user research synthesis and present insights to executive teams, translating them into actionable product strategies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional leadership (product, engineering, marketing, customer success) to prioritize initiatives and allocate design resources.
  • Serve as an advocate for user-centered design principles, accessibility, and inclusive practices in executive and strategic planning.
  • Evaluate and iterate on processes, workflows, and tools to improve design quality, efficiency, and innovation across the design organization.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to support team objectives, departmental needs, and overall organizational priorities.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Design, Computer Science, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of design experience in enterprise SaaS or public safety software, shaping design vision and mentoring teams across a product suite or organization.
  • Demonstrated success influencing product strategy and delivering design excellence across multiple products.
  • Mastery of design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar.
  • Deep knowledge of user-centered design, interaction design, usability testing, and accessibility standards.
  • Strong leadership, mentorship, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking and communication skills to advocate for design at the executive level.

Note: Due to the nature of our work with public safety agencies, this position requires compliance with the FBI's Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy. Candidates must successfully pass a comprehensive, fingerprint-based background check. Please note that specific customer contracts may impose additional security verification requirements. Obtaining and maintaining all required security clearances is a condition of employment.
