Role Summary

The Experience Design Center (XDC) at Thermo Fisher Scientific seeks a highly skilled Staff UX Design professional for a mid-level position. This role provides an excellent opportunity to showcase your established skills and capabilities while supporting peers and senior designers. In this position, you will work closely with your colleagues and have the opportunity to mentor junior designers. You will also contribute to and occasionally lead larger projects and initiatives that have a significant impact on our portfolio and in the marketplace.

What will you do? (Responsibilities)

  • Responsible for exploring and implementing UX design in developing and productizing new digital user experiences
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners
  • Lead discussions with product teams to understand project scope, business objectives, and user needs
  • Deliver UX design assets and documentation consistently

How will you get here? (Knowledge/Skills)

  • Analyzing qualitative and quantitative data with competitive products
  • Run heuristic evaluations with defined next-step outcomes
  • Design/Support user journey maps and paths for different user types
  • Organize and execute program-level design strategy
  • Strategize and document user design stories
  • Plan and document scope and timeline estimates
  • Define problem areas and rough solutions based on insights from the empathized research
  • Evaluate and prioritize solutions on criteria such as feasibility, impact, and alignment for testing
  • Strategize and organize screen content information architecture structures
  • Form clear content labeling and call-to-action system
  • Design seamless task-based user flows
  • Design pixel-perfect user interfaces that are system-compliant
  • Build interactive prototypes
  • Utilize Figma software to a high level of proficiency

Education & Experience

The candidate should possess a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in a related field of study, preferred but not required, or certificate programs will also be considered. 3 - 5 years related or equivalent experience.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in Massachusetts is $91,700.00–$128,000.00. This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
