The hourly rate for this position at Scotts/Hawthorne will generally fall between $19.00 - 21.00 per hour and is paid weekly. Scotts/Hawthorne will consider various factors in determining the actual pay including your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location.

Job Overview

The User Experience Research (UXR) Intern will be responsible for tasks in support of optimizing and enhancing our consumer facing digital experiences through research insights and learnings. They will work closely with other members of the Digital Experience, IT, and Brand Teams. The individual in this role will have exposure to many different facets of our business. This UX Research internship offers you the opportunity to work with a small, highly collaborative team leveraging user research tools and techniques to optimize and evaluate innovative design and experience-based solutions.

What you’ll do in this role

  • Support user research activities using both generative and evaluative methodologies.
  • Analyze and extrapolate actionable findings from qualitative and quantitative research.
  • Conduct qualitative methodologies to uncover pain points, points of friction, or insights on owned, comparative and competitive digital experiences.
  • Analyze and synthesize insights from on-site behavioral insight tools.
  • Supplement UX research inputs with analytics data, market research, and other data sources.
  • Ideate, strategize, and plan conversion rate optimization (CRO) initiatives.
  • Share research insights with cross-functional partners to create a smarter, more informed, and more empathetic team.
  • Articulate systems, processes, and user journeys in simple ways to help build alignment across teams.
  • Create deliverables in the form of engaging reports or other materials as needed by the project team.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with Google Suite or related software.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team.

What you’ll need to be successful

Currently pursuing a degree in Human Factors, Psychology, Visual Communication Design, Marketing, Usability Engineering, Interaction Design, Digital Design, or similar; Graduation date must be on or before December 2027.

About the UXR Team

The User Experience Research (UXR) team is responsible for tasks in support of optimizing and enhancing our consumer facing digital experiences through research insights and learnings. We conduct qualitative research to uncover pain points/points of friction on owned digital experiences to share insights with cross-functional partners to create a smarter, more informed, and more empathetic team. With internal and external partners, we ideate, strategize, and run conversion rate optimization (CRO) initiatives.
