About Sapiom

AI agents are beginning to act on behalf of companies and users — making purchases, spinning up compute, triggering workflows, and interacting with third-party systems. But todays financial infrastructure was built for humans, not autonomous systems. Companies and developers need a way to give agents controlled access, meter actions, monetize usage, and transact across rails, without rebuilding payments, risk, and compliance internally. Sapiom builds the financial payments infrastructure for the machine economy - autonomous spend rails that enable AI agents to transact with real-world services safely, processing every dollar spent, every policy decision navigated, and every risk signal generated.

We have assembled a world-class team with deep payments and infrastructure DNA to build the operating system for machines. Backed by a $15.75M investment from Accel, Menlo, and Anthropic, we are moving with relentless focus to deploy the economic substrate for autonomous agents.

About the Role

Financial infrastructure for autonomous agents is a design problem as much as an engineering one — the surfaces we build determine whether developers trust the system, understand whats happening, and can move fast without breaking things. This role sits at the center of that challenge: shaping how complex, high-stakes transaction flows become interfaces that feel inevitable. The right person is a systems thinker whos equally comfortable pushing pixels and pushing back on product assumptions.

What You Will Do

Own the end-to-end design process across Sapioms core product — from early discovery and requirements gathering with Product, through iterative visual design, to guiding implementation with Engineering. Youll work across the hardest UX challenges in agentic commerce: spend controls, policy configuration, real-time risk visibility, developer-facing APIs, and the dashboards that make autonomous financial activity legible to the humans overseeing it. Youll help define Sapioms design language as it matures — knowing when to use the system, when to evolve it, and when to break it deliberately. The goal: software that earns developer trust on first use and deepens it every time.

Responsibilities

  • Own the full design process across product surfaces — from FigJam workshops and Figma mockups to production-quality prototypes built with v0, Cursor, or Claude Code — delivering the right artifact at the right moment.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to shape strategic direction, not just execute on spec — bringing design thinking into roadmap conversations early.
  • Define and evolve Sapioms design system with precision — knowing when convention serves users and when a new pattern is necessary.
  • Ship interfaces for genuinely hard problems: agentic spend authorization, policy enforcement UX, real-time transaction monitoring, and developer-facing configuration flows.
  • Advocate across the company for design quality and consistency — establishing shared standards and raising the bar for how Sapioms product looks and feels.
  • Nurture a design culture as an early team member — giving and receiving feedback with candor, mentoring where needed, and building the environment you want to work in.

Requirements

  • Proven track record designing interactive products in complex technical domains — developer tooling, infrastructure software, fintech, or security — where the users are sophisticated and the stakes are high.
  • Exceptional visual, UI, and interaction craft — with the judgment to know when to follow the design system and when to push it forward.
  • Comfortable with modern design tooling across the full spectrum: collaborative workshops (FigJam), high-fidelity design (Figma), and production/prototype code (v0, Cursor, or similar).
  • Strong written and verbal communicator — able to articulate a design perspective with conviction, seek feedback proactively, and influence peers without authority.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate in fast-moving engineering environments where decisions get made quickly and the product ships continuously.
  • Capable of holding a point of view under pressure while remaining genuinely open to better arguments — no ego about the work, full investment in the outcome.
  • Comfortable working in ambiguity and contributing to a function thats still being defined — this is an early role with significant ownership.
