Industrial Product Designer

Position Summary

The role holder will take a leading role in product design projects (sponsored by HQ) and handle the conceptualisation and development of new product design ranging from the current line-up to advanced product concepts.

Role and Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities:

  • Plan and complete build projects based on given briefs and schedules.
  • Implement design identity characteristics into the European market.
  • Demonstrate high proficiency of information gathering and analysis.
  • Communicate with internal and external functions in relation to the projects.
  • Support all the additional work for operating design office based on given order by design managers.
  • Deliver the project on time and within budget.
  • Ensure the results satisfy the given briefs in aspects of form, aesthetics, physical and psychological interfaces between users and products, and system compatibility where required.
  • Determine appropriate materials, mechanism, construction, colour, surface finishes, manufacturing process and package in cooperation with related business functions involved in the projects.
  • Create the documentation necessary to convey the design solutions through renderings, models, mechanical drawings.
  • Ensure the ‘look and feel’ of the design solutions satisfy the identity guidelines.
  • Provide meaningful clues to enhance overall quality of the projects.
  • Build a Trust through appropriate and persuasive design presentation at each phase of the design process.
  • Resolve the project related issues with professional and logical manner.

What we need for this role

To be successful, you will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • A creative innovative approach and hands-on competency to design.
  • Ability to work and communicate with other design and business functions.
  • Experience in designing mobile phones, electronic consumer goods, kitchen appliances, laptop, TV, home appliances etc.
  • 4-5 years hands-on experiences from concept to final production follow-up.
  • MA or BA in Industrial design or Product design.
  • Appropriate experience in corporate design centre or consultancy.
  • Knowledge of current design software and techniques in both 2D and 3D (Rhino or NX).
  • In addition to Cinema 4D, Redshift, Unreal Engine other specialized rendering skills for movie creating would be highly desirable (Unreal Engine, Houdini etc…).
  • Good knowledge of motion graphics and video editing software is a big plus (Cinema 4D, After Effects, Premiere etc…).

What does success look like?

  • To multi task, multi manage under manager’s control.
  • To bring fresh and innovative ideas at each phase of design development.
  • The position should be able to communicate with other disciplines within the design studio and other business functions for appropriate execution of the projects.
  • To manage the design process for European product design development within agreed time, cost and other allocated parameters.
  • Acting more proactively with teams in global location (especially with HQ in Korea).
