Product Design Intern – Loyalty Program Collaboration

The Opportunity

Root’s 11-week Product Designer Internship offers the chance to shape a new customer loyalty program. This role will collaborate closely with a UX Researcher to advance early design concepts, validate ideas, and test experiences that drive customer retention. Interns will explore competitive landscapes, translate research into design opportunities, and create prototypes that bring a loyalty program vision to life. Root is a “work where it works best” company. This means we will support you working in whatever location that works best for you across the US.

Salary Range

$23 - $50/hr
Internship dates: June 2026 – August 2026
Please Note: We are unable to do OPT and CPT work authorizations.

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Collaborate with a UX Researcher to translate findings into actionable design opportunities
  • Explore competitive loyalty program designs and synthesize insights into Root’s strategy
  • Create wireframes, mockups, and prototypes to test and validate loyalty program concepts
  • Present design iterations and rationales to stakeholders and cross-functional partners

What You Will Need to Succeed

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Product Design, Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field (graduating between late 2026 and late 2027 preferred)
  • Familiarity with UX research methods and applying them to design solutions
  • Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Figma
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with attention to detail
