Senior UX Designer (Contract) – Rental Software

Point of Rental is seeking a Senior UX Designer with strong, demonstrable experience in modernizing complex software applications into modern, cloud-native SaaS design standards. You will play a critical role in shaping the future of Point of Rental’s user experience for Point of Rental’s core products - rental management systems (RMS). This position will focus on a UX overhaul, redesigning the user experience of the product, collaborating closely with business stakeholders, product managers, product designers, software engineers, and users to deliver exceptional user experiences.

Reporting to Point of Rental’s Director of Product, this position offers a unique opportunity to lead a highly-visible user experience transformation, collaborate with the team, customers and users, and leave a lasting impact on our product suite. You’ll play a pivotal role in crafting intuitive, impactful solutions that meet user needs and align with business goals.

The initial contract is estimated to last 6 months initially with the possibility for renewal. Duties & Responsibilities

  • Own the customer journey and user experience, representing the voice of the customer in collaboration with Point of Rental’s business stakeholders, product managers, and software engineers in partnership with product design:
    • Lead the UX redesign of core web-based and mobile software products.
    • Create wireframes, rapid prototypes, and high-fidelity designs to communicate ideas and solutions.
    • Create a flexible design system to ensure a consistent experience across the product and user interactions.
    • Collaborate closely with the team to refine requirements and ensure designs solve user problems effectively.
    • Partner with software engineers to ensure design feasibility and a seamless implementation process.
    • Lead a regular, weekly cadence of design reviews to showcase the user experience to stakeholders and receive iterative feedback.
    • Perform usability testing to validate and refine designs.
    • Balance simplicity, functionality, and aesthetic quality to deliver best-in-class user experiences.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 7-10 years of experience in UX product design with proven experience leading UX modernization efforts (B2B SaaS experience preferred).
  • Experience modernizing large-scale, complex enterprise software.
  • Proficiency in Figma, with a strong portfolio demonstrating your design process and results.
  • Ability to create user-centered designs informed by research, data, and feedback.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience enabling software engineers to ensure seamless integration of design assets and design systems.
  • Experience performing usability testing to inform design decisions.
  • Openness to feedback and a desire to continuously improve.
  • Experience using AI in your design process is an advantage.

Location: Remote/Hybrid

The Product Team at Point of Rental is generally remote with hybrid work in our Dallas/Ft-Worth office. We use the office as a tool to workshop and collaborate with our team and stakeholders but most time is spent remote. Preference will be given to Texas residents. For remote team members, travel to Dallas/Ft-Worth at least once per quarter will be required.
