Senior Manager, User Experience (UX) Lead

We are seeking a Senior Manager of User Experience to embed within our Forward Impact Teams (FIT pods), which deliver rapid outcomes by experimenting, learning fast, and proving what works. As the voice of the customer, you will leverage AI tools to deliver insights in days and MVPs in a few weeks; a significant acceleration from traditional design approaches.

Operating at the intersection of customer insights, design systems, and product delivery, you will advance concepts into validated solutions that enable decision-making on further scale across the enterprise. You will be responsible for maintaining design standards, ensuring accessibility compliance, and delivering solutions that meet both technical rigor and customer needs. Your role focuses on hands-on design leadership, establishing a clear design vision and systems, and ensuring prototypes are built, tested, and refined efficiently within days.

Working at the intersection of creativity and velocity, this position requires exceptional design skills combined with the ability to work at unprecedented speed through AI augmentation. You will collaborate closely with CX Leads and stakeholders to align priorities, gather feedback, and adapt solutions to maximize customer value while fostering a culture of creativity and continuous improvement. Success in this role means delivering accessible, effective designs in days rather than weeks, directly shaping how patients and healthcare providers experience Pfizers innovations.

What You Will Achieve

Design Delivery & Execution

  • Execute end-to-end design process for assigned pods under Director guidance
  • Deliver medium to high-fidelity prototypes within days for critical decisions
  • Ensure 100% accessibility compliance (WCAG 2.1 AA) across all designs
  • Lead MVP design quality through detailed specifications and asset creation for ready to scale digital products
  • Coordinate with Digital Creation Centers on design handoffs and scaling requirements
  • Flex across pods based on demand, providing surge support during peak periods
  • Create responsive designs optimized for multiple platforms and devices
  • Build interactive prototypes for user testing and stakeholder reviews

Design Operations & Systems

  • Maintain and expand design system components ensuring consistency and reusability
  • Create comprehensive design documentation including specifications and guidelines
  • Support design tool adoption and configuration across pods
  • Track design metrics including velocity, quality, and adoption rates
  • Coordinate design reviews ensuring feedback is actionable and timely
  • Manage design asset libraries and version control
  • Build templates and starter kits accelerating design delivery
  • Ensure design files are organized for efficient collaboration

Capability Building & Enablement

  • Train CX Leads on rapid prototyping techniques and tools
  • Create design templates and components for self-service use
  • Support Communities of Practice with design expertise and best practices
  • Mentor junior designers and provide growth opportunities
  • Document design patterns and successful approaches
  • Lead design workshops and training sessions
  • Build design evaluation criteria and review processes
  • Enable non-designers to create basic prototypes independently

Candidate Profile

The candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

Here Is What You Need (Minimum Requirements):

  • Bachelors degree in Design or related field
  • 6+ years of progressive design experience with focus on digital products
  • Expert proficiency in Figma including components, variants, and auto-layout
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating system design thinking
  • Experience with accessibility standards and inclusive design
  • Proven ability to deliver under tight deadlines
  • Experience mentoring and enabling non-designers
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Demonstrated "AI-first" mindset with a proven willingness to challenge traditional design paradigms and adopt augmented workflows to radically accelerate delivery cycles
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while fostering collaboration and a high-performing team culture
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into actionable product decisions
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills to align diverse stakeholders around design goals and outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to lead without authority through ambiguity and deliver high-impact solutions quickly

Bonus Points If You Have (Preferred Requirements):

  • Experience in pharmaceutical or healthcare design
  • Background with design systems at scale
  • Knowledge of front-end development principles
  • Experience with AI-augmented design tools
  • Service design or journey mapping expertise
  • Certification in accessibility or inclusive design
  • Previous experience in lean/agile environments

Physical/Mental Requirements

  • Strong digital literacy and an "AI-first" mental model, with the ability to critically evaluate and integrate generative tools into the creative process to solve complex design challenges at scale
  • Ability to manage multiple complex programs and projects simultaneously
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Other Job Details

  • Work location: Hybrid - onsite an average of 2.5 days per week or as the business requires.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $120,800.00 to $201,400.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizers Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 17.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share-based long-term incentive program.

Pfizer compensation structures and benefit packages are aligned based on the location of hire. The United States salary range provided does not apply to Tampa, FL or any location outside of the United States. The annual base salary for this position in Tampa, FL ranges from $108,700.00 to $181,100.00.
