Octopus Money are hiring a

Product Designer

🏆 🎉 🏆 We're proud to announce we've won Advice firm of the year at the Money Marketing Awards 🏆 🎉 🏆

We’re looking for a Product Designer to help shape the next generation of our money advice and investing experiences. You’ll take real ownership of a product pillar, leading design from discovery through to delivery to craft intuitive, human-centred experiences that make complex financial decisions feel simple and delightful.

About Octopus Money

At Octopus Money, we’re on a mission to make money advice accessible to all – because the right advice can turn your life dreams into reality.

The facts are alarming: half of Brits reach retirement age without enough money to live the life they want, financial stress is a leading cause of poor mental health and only 8% of us have access to 1-to-1 advice.

There’s plenty of information out there, but most of us just wish that someone we trust would tell us what to do with our money!

With Octopus, you get a personalised plan and a friendly expert to help you make it happen. We combine advisers, coaches and technology to understand your situation and recommend the right steps for your savings, investments, pensions and more. Then, we make it easy to invest in a custom portfolio, managed by experts.

We believe everyone deserves personal, 1-to-1 advice with their money.

The role and opportunity

As a Product Designer, you’ll collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and financial experts to turn insights into scalable design solutions that drive positive outcomes for our customers and our business. This is a chance to join a small, high-impact team where your ideas will directly influence how thousands of people feel about their money.

Day to day you will:

  • lead design for one of our product pillars (Engagement, Planning and Investing), owning the end-to-end experience from discovery through to hi-fi design and iterating based on user feedback
  • translate user research, data insights and business goals into elegant, usable design solutions
  • prototype, user testing, and refining concepts quickly to validate ideas early
  • collaborate cross-functionally with PMs and engineers to shape our digital product
  • Actively contribute to our design system - evolving components, patterns, and documentation to drive quality and consistency
  • Help raise the design bar through attention to UI craft and usability

About you:

Collaborative and a great team player
We’ve built a great team of top performers, and you’ll need to work with others from across the business to identify problems, agree solutions and implement changes.

Problem solver at heart with an analytical mindset
You should be someone who gets excited by complex problems and can find creative ways to solve them no matter what your level of knowledge and experience with the subject matter. You should be able to digest complexity and develop a plan to move forward, without losing sight of the important details.

Goal driven and not afraid to get stuck in
We like to set ambitious goals and find creative ways to hit them, even if that means rolling up our sleeves and doing manual tasks before we’ve managed to fully automate them. You should have a bias towards action and getting things done.

Knowledge and experience required

  • 4+ years of experience designing digital products end-to-end, embedded in or working closely with cross-functional teams of product managers and engineers
  • Strong portfolio showcasing UX thinking, interaction design, and polished visual execution
  • Advanced level ability in Figma
  • Experience with user testing platforms such as usertesting.com, Lyssna or Userlytics
  • Proven experience working with and contributing to evolving design systems
  • Experience designing for complex or data-rich products
  • Experience of testing and validating prototype designs with users
  • A team player who thrives in a cross-functional, fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and resourcefulness - able to bring structure and clarity to undefined problems
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills - you bring people along on the journey and influence through storytelling

Desirable to have, but not essential

  • Experience designing for native mobile apps (iOS or Android)
  • Fintech or financial services experience is a plus, not a must
  • Exposure to behavioural design principles and methods

If you want to use your design skills to help more people feel confident about money, we would love to hear from you.

Let us know by submitting your CV, hitting the apply button, and we'll be in touch!

In return for your contribution, we offer a base salary between ÂŁ57,000 - ÂŁ67,000 - DOE + benefits
