Oak Engage is a fast-growing, VC-backed SaaS company on a mission to transform how organisations connect with their people. Our mobile-first employee engagement platform helps frontline and desk-based workforces stay informed, aligned, and supported — no matter where they work. Our aim is to scale over the next few years, expanding our product footprint, and building a world-class experience for millions of users across retail, hospitality, manufacturing, education, and beyond. As part of this growth, we’re strengthening our Product & Design function with a dedicated UX Designer who can help shape intuitive, elegant experiences across web and mobile.
We’re looking for a user-centric UX Designer to join our Product team and help define the future of Oak’s platform. You’ll work closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and our wider Design function to understand customer problems and translate them into seamless, accessible, beautifully-crafted user journeys. You’ll be embedded in a cross-functional squad, contributing to discovery, UX research, wireframes, user flows, prototypes, and interaction design across our mobile and desktop experiences.
Please add a cover letter, including your portfolio to your application.
Stage 1: CV & Portfolio Review & Online Interview
We’ll review your CV and portfolio to understand your experience, the products you’ve worked on, and how you tackle UX problems. We’re particularly interested in end-to-end case studies that show how you defined the problem, the decisions you made, and the impact of your work. In this session, we’ll explore your experience, discuss a couple of portfolio pieces, and give you time to ask about Oak, the product, and our ways of working. We’ll be focusing on your thinking process, how you collaborate, and how you approach complex, real-world UX challenges.
Stage 2: Task (max 1 hour) + In-Person Interview
Before the onsite, we’ll send you a short UX task that should take no more than 1 hour. The brief will present a complex UX problem similar to what we tackle at Oak. We’ll ask you to create a wireframe (or small set of frames) and capture your reasoning. In the in-person interview, you’ll walk us through:
We’re not looking for polished UI – we’re interested in clarity of thinking, problem solving, and communication. We aim to move quickly and keep candidates updated at each stage. If you require any adjustments to the process, please let us know — we’re happy to accommodate.
At Oak, we’re committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace where everyone feels welcome, supported, and able to thrive. We believe that different perspectives make us stronger, and we actively encourage applications from people of all backgrounds, experiences, and identities — including, but not limited to, race, ethnicity, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, and socio-economic status. We are an equal opportunities employer. All hiring decisions are based on business needs, role requirements, and individual qualifications — without bias or discrimination. If you require any adjustments to the interview process or the role itself to support accessibility, please let us know — we’re happy to help.
