Join Our Team

Come join a diverse and collaborative team of Social Scientists, UX/Product and Market Researchers, and Research Operations to bring human perspective and consumer insight to Netflixs world of entertainment. Youll work directly with cross-functional partners across Netflix, which could include Content, Marketing, Communications, Design, Product Development, Data Science, and Engineering. Our primary research ranges from formative to evaluative and utilizes approaches such as focus groups, in-depth interviews, usability studies, ethnography, quantitative surveys, as well as statistical modeling. 

Internship Details

The 2026 Consumer Insights Interns will be specifically partnered with our Content, Member, and Marketing/Communications teams within CI. The ideal candidate will have a background in disciplines such as anthropology, ethnography, psychology, sociology, behavioral economics, human-computer interactions, or human factors, or UX research. Theyll have an interest and some training in using research methods to shape the global product experience and increase member joy.

Candidate Expectations

Were looking for candidates who are excellent communicators, passionate about product consumer experience, entertainment and tech, eager to engage new audiences with Netflix, and curious about the complexities of supporting teams that have global and local views of future product solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with senior researchers and cross-functional partners to examine and leverage existing qualitative and quantitative insights to generate new hypotheses applied to business questions.
  • Assist in identifying and prioritizing knowledge gaps where research can be impactful, and recommend potential methods to address those knowledge gaps.
  • In partnership with your team, execute primary and secondary research projects, such as qualitative interviews, prototype evaluations, survey development, etc.
  • Synthesize & communicate findings, craft actionable, data-driven recommendations in partnership with your team.
  • Collaborate in running readout sessions, workshops, and brainstorms to help stakeholders understand and engage with insights.

Ideal Background

  • Currently enrolled in a Masters or PhD (preferred) program of study, with at least one additional quarter or semester of school remaining after the conclusion of the internship.
  • Degree study in Psychology, Sociology, Human-Computer Interaction, Information Science, Design, Cognitive Science, Neuroscience, Social Science, Anthropology, Human Factors, or related fields. 
  • Experience executing hands-on, primary research as part of school curriculum or external work. Experience with international research is a plus but not required.
  • Knowledge of qualitative (e.g., interview, diary studies, usability studies, contextual inquiry, concept evaluations, etc.) and quantitative (surveys, experiments, statistical hypothesis testing) research methods.
  • Can flourish in our unique company culture.
  • Team player who is comfortable giving and receiving feedback openly.
  • Comfortable working independently.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to present research insights through clear storytelling.

The Summer Internship

At Netflix, we offer a personalized experience for interns, aiming to provide an experience that mimics actual work here. We match qualified interns with projects and groups based on interests and skill sets, fully embedding interns within those groups for the summer. Internships will be a minimum of 12 weeks, with timing flexible to candidate needs. Conditions permitting, our summer internships will be located in our Los Gatos, CA office, or in our Los Angeles, CA office, depending on the team.

Compensation

At Netflix, we carefully consider a wide range of compensation factors to determine internship top of market. We use market indicators to determine compensation and consider your specific internship team, degree, and years of education to get it right. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary and will also be dependent on your location. The overall market range for Netflix Internships is typically $40/hour - $110/hour. This market range is based on total compensation (vs. only hourly rate), which is in line with our compensation philosophy.
