Intern (New Product Design)

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

New Product Development Support

• Assist engineers in the design and development of new window and door systems.
• Support concept generation, feasibility studies, and early-stage design work.
• Participate in design reviews and cross-functional meetings.
• Help document product requirements and engineering specifications.

Product Enhancements & Component Design

• Design and improve small components and subassemblies for existing products.
• Develop 3D models and detailed drawings using SolidWorks.
• Evaluate manufacturability, cost, and performance considerations.
• Assist in material selection and component optimization.

Engineering Analysis & Validation

• Support performance evaluations and testing efforts.
• Assist with tolerance stack-ups and fit/function analysis.
• Participate in prototype builds and product validation testing.
• Document findings and recommend design improvements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to support product launch activities.
• Assist in preparing documentation for product releases and design changes.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across product lines.

Qualifications

Required:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or related field.
• Experience with AutoCAD 2D drawing.
• Experience with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred:

• Familiarity with window and door systems or building products.
• Basic understanding of design for manufacturing (DFM) principles.
• Experience participating in hands-on projects or team-based engineering work.
