A Day in the Life

We are currently looking for a Principal UI/UX Designer to join our User Experience and Human Factors team. The Pelvic Health Operating unit specializes in providing innovative solutions for patients suffering from overactive bladder, non-obstructive urinary retention and fecal incontinence. In this exciting role as a Principal UI/UX Designer, you will be responsible for collaborating to design digital UI for our next generation Pelvic Health platform across tibial and sacral neuromodulation. You’ll work with a team of skilled UI designers, UX designers, and human factors engineers to apply human centered principles to the design of implantable neuromodulation systems, the mobile and cloud-based applications that control them, and user training.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Play a key role in the development, governance, and maintenance of the next generation common design language and design system.
  • Collaborate with a team of UI, UX, human factors, and system engineers to conceptualize, design, and iterate mobile and cloud-based applications that empower clinicians and patients to control neurostimulation implants.
  • Partner with software developers on implementation of UI design.
  • Prepare design mockups and interactive prototypes to facilitate generative and usability research.
  • Generate and maintain user personas, journey and experience maps, and contribute to definition of jobs to be done.
  • Support user testing in the field.
  • Work closely with the product development and marketing teams to ensure products support stakeholder needs and align with brand standards.
  • Develop and support standard operating procedures and practices.
  • Be comfortable with frequent customer contact and demonstrate knowledge of the customer journey.
  • Consider technology, platforms, and architecture while applying human-centered techniques in design approaches.
  • Collaborate across the Medtronic enterprise to coordinate the creation, implementation, and governance of design systems.

25% or less domestic travel.

Must Have - Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience or advanced degree and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in the construction, maintenance, and governance of design systems
  • Experience designing user interfaces that control multicomponent systems (hardware and software)
  • Experience collaborating with software developers to implement iterative design
  • Experience with regulated industries, particularly designing UI for medical devices (class III preferred)
  • Experience conducting user testing (in-person testing experience preferred)
  • Experience using Figma, ZeroHeight, Miro, and UX Research platforms such as Dovetail or Great Question

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):
$149,600.00 - $224,400.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
