Sr Director User Experience

Role Overview:

McAfee aspires to help every consumer feel safe online through an experience that creates confidence and trust. To propel this mission, McAfee is hiring a Sr Director of UX to envision the next generation of privacy, identity, and security products. The ideal candidate will have proven experience leading a highly collaborative team in the vision and delivery of mobile, web, and desktop products. You will lead a mix of people managers and contributors and be responsible for developing people and practices. You will collaborate closely with business and functional leaders across the product ecosystem to infuse a human-centered approach and balance speed with quality. You will play a key role amplifying UX value and impact at scale.

In this role, you are accountable for data-informed excellence in all functions within UX (product design, content strategy, UXR, etc) and helping to shape and drive the experience of McAfee’s products in partnership with the product team. Across the disciplines within the UX Team you will work to continually evolve the team’s craft and culture.

This is a remote role based in the United States.

Job Description:

About the role:

  • Accountable for the experience across the portfolio of McAfee products
  • Own and evolve the UX strategy across web, mobile, and platform experiences, ensuring consistency, usability, and emotional resonance.
  • Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of product designers, researchers, UX writers, and design program managers.
  • Define and communicate clear design principles, standards, and systems to support scalable design execution.
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Data teams to align on priorities, solve customer problems, and ship exceptional experiences.
  • Champion the voice of the user through research, data, and storytelling—ensuring decisions are grounded in user needs and business context.
  • Establish design metrics and success criteria that tie UX outcomes to product and business goals.
  • Drive inclusive, accessible, and ethical design practices.
  • Build a culture of feedback, creativity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Be both coach and subject matter expert as you develop UX Leaders and mature the organization’s UX practices.

About you:

  • 10+ years leading teams in a multi-skilled design organization, ideally at a high-growth technology company driving large-scale strategic initiatives.
  • Proven success in shipping high-quality consumer or B2B2C digital products at scale.
  • Deep understanding of design thinking, UX best practices, and user research methodologies.
  • Experience with design systems, responsive design, and cross-platform UX.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and influencing skills—able to represent design at the executive level.
  • Passionate about mentoring, career development, and building diverse, high-trust teams.
  • Excited to dive into the world of personal security and privacy and envision what might come next in this rapidly changing industry.
  • Proven business acumen, cross-functional collaboration skills, and experience partnering with or supporting senior level executives.
  • Able to influence and drive product direction with cross-functional stakeholders at the VP and C-suite level.
  • A strategic communicator able to articulate clear design rationale and its connection to the business and impact for customers.
  • Ability to operate at both strategic and executional levels, balancing vision with iteration.
  • Comfortable working in ambiguity and able to operate successfully in a fast-paced, matrix environment.

Bonus factors:

  • Experience in consumer security, fintech, or healthtech where trust and risk are core user considerations.
  • Exposure to voice, chatbots, or multimodal interfaces.
  • Demonstrated experience designing AI-first products, ideally involving Generative AI, LLMs, or agentic interactions.
