Engineering Manager - Console User Experience

Note: This position requires presence in our San Francisco/San Jose office location 4 days per week; Lambdas designated work from home day is currently Tuesday.

About the Role

You will lead a team of frontend and full-stack engineers responsible for Lambdas customer-facing cloud console and related API integrations. This is a hands-on leadership role. Youll be responsible for execution, team health, and technical direction while staying close to architecture and design decisions. Youll partner closely with Product, Design, API Experience, Billing, Control Plane, Support, and Platform teams to translate complex infrastructure capabilities into intuitive, reliable workflows for customers. This role is ideal for someone who has led a team before and wants to grow into a broader platform and organizational ownership over time.

What Youll Do

  • Lead and grow a team of ~4–6 engineers focused on Lambdas cloud console
  • Own execution of roadmap initiatives across identity, billing, cluster lifecycle, support, and governance workflows
  • Partner closely with Product and Design to define clear scope, sequencing, and tradeoffs
  • Drive architectural decisions around frontend systems, API integration, and performance
  • Ensure high standards for quality, reliability, and maintainability
  • Balance shipping velocity with foundational improvements
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Control Plane, Billing, Support, and Platform teams to deliver cohesive experiences
  • Mentor engineers and help them grow technically and professionally
  • Contribute to a culture of documentation, ownership, and accountability

You

  • 7+ years of industry experience in software engineering
  • 3+ years of engineering management experience
  • Built or led customer-facing web applications, ideally in SaaS, cloud, or infrastructure environments
  • Comfortable reviewing and reasoning about frontend and backend code (React, TypeScript, APIs, etc.)
  • Can drive clarity in ambiguous problem spaces
  • Care about user experience, even when building infrastructure-heavy systems
  • Comfortable navigating cross-team dependencies in a fast-moving environment
  • Experience balancing roadmap delivery with operational and technical debt work

Nice to Have

  • Experience building cloud console interfaces
  • Experience working in a high-growth startup
  • Exposure to enterprise customers or governance features

Salary Range Information

The annual salary range for this position has been set based on market data and other factors. However, a salary higher or lower than this range may be appropriate for a candidate whose qualifications differ meaningfully from those listed in the job description.
