UX Design & Research Manager

Position Overview

We are looking for a UX Design & Research Manager to lead and elevate our user experience practice across IXOPAY platforms and consumer experiences. This is a hands-on, player-coach role responsible for driving user-centered design across our products spanning:

  • payment orchestration
  • tokenization and payment data security
  • PCI compliance workflows
  • AI payment intelligence analytics

You will work closely with product management, engineering, and clients to deeply understand complex payment operations and translate them into intuitive, efficient experiences. A core part of this role will be introducing and scaling AI-assisted design and research workflows that accelerate discovery, prototyping, and insight generation across the product organization.

Key Responsibilities

Lead UX Strategy

  • Define and evolve the UX vision for the IXOPAY platforms and interfaces.
  • Establish UX standards, principles, and scalable design practices.
  • Expert knowledge & advocate for user-centered design across product teams.

Hands-On Product Design

  • Design end-to-end user experiences for complex B2B payments, merchant, and consumer workflows.
  • Documents user journeys, empathy maps, personas.
  • Produce wireframes, prototypes, and production-ready UI designs.
  • Partner with product managers and engineers to iterate rapidly from concept to delivery.
  • Maintain and evolve the product design system.

User Research & Customer Insights

  • Plan and conduct qualitative and quantitative research with:
    • enterprise customers
    • merchants and payment operators
    • prospective user personas
    • consumers of IXOPAY products & solutions
  • Translate insights into actionable product recommendations.
  • Lead usability testing, discovery interviews, and workflow analysis.

AI-Enhanced UX Practices

  • Introduce and operationalize AI-assisted tools for design and research, including:
    • accelerated prototyping
    • research synthesis
    • persona generation
    • insight extraction from user interviews
  • Help the product organization leverage AI to improve design speed and quality.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with product management, engineering, and go-to-market teams.
  • Participate in product discovery and roadmap discussions.
  • Ensure design decisions are grounded in both user needs and product strategy.

Team Leadership

  • Act as a player-coach, mentoring and influencing product teams.
  • Help establish scalable UX research and design processes.
  • Contribute to building the long-term UX organization at IXOPAY.

Required Qualifications

Experience

  • 5+ years in UX design, product design, or UX research, ideally in B2B SaaS.
  • Experience working on complex platforms or technical products.
  • Proven ability for hands-on lead of UX initiatives.

Skills

  • Expert proficiency in Figma and other design tools (Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign), prototyping in HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Ajax a plus, and user research tools (e.g., Usertesting).
  • Strong experience with:
    • interaction design
    • design systems
    • usability testing
    • research planning and synthesis
  • Ability to translate complex workflows into intuitive interfaces.
  • Strong storytelling and communication skills.

Research Capability

  • Demonstrated experience conducting:
    • customer interviews
    • usability testing
    • workflow studies
    • persona/archetype development
  • Ability to connect research insights directly to product decisions.

AI & Modern UX Tooling

  • Familiarity with AI-assisted design, research, or prototyping workflows.
  • Curiosity and experimentation with new tools that improve design velocity and insight generation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in payments, fintech, developer platforms, or infrastructure products.
  • Experience building or scaling design systems.
  • Background working with enterprise customers and complex operational users.
  • Candidates in the Central and Eastern US time zones strongly preferred.
