As the Senior Product Designer, you’ll lead the product design vision for one of Impala’s most strategic verticals, the Weather Studio: a platform of weather products built to inform, protect, and empower users worldwide.

You’ll take ownership of the complete design transformation of our Weather portfolio, from our flagship Weather Radar app to new, upcoming experiences like Severe Weather, Air Quality, and Climate widgets.

Your mission: evolve the Weather Studio from a set of utility apps into a cohesive ecosystem of personalized, data-driven weather companions, intuitive, trustworthy, and delightful across every surface: phone, tablet, watch, voice, and widgets.

You’ll lead discovery, connect user insights with behavioral data, and translate complex meteorological information into simple, elegant experiences people love to use. Working side-by-side with Product, Engineering, and Growth to shape the design strategy, UX foundation, and visual identity of all our Weather products.

What you'll deliver:

  • Lead Discovery & Design Vision: Own and drive the design discovery process, from user research and behavioral analysis to concept validation and experience principles for the Weather products.
  • Platform-Level Design Strategy: Define the cohesive design language and interaction system across multiple weather products, ensuring consistency, scalability, and emotional resonance.
  • Ecosystem Design: Craft experiences beyond the app: widgets, voice, watch, iPad, notifications. Wherever, weather adds value to daily life.
  • Data-Driven Design Decisions: Combine user insights, analytics, and experimentation to validate hypotheses and measure design impact.
  • High-Fidelity Craft & Interaction Detail: Deliver polished, production-ready design specifications and motion interactions that elevate usability and delight.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product, Tech, and Growth to balance user needs, business goals, and feasibility — ensuring design excellence through delivery.

What we’re looking for:

Experience & Expertise

  • 5+ years of experience designing and leading for high-traffic consumer mobile apps (preferably iOS).
  • Proven ability to lead discovery and design strategy across multiple products or product lines.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing research-driven design, complex data visualization, and holistic mobile ecosystems.
  • Deep knowledge of Figma, prototyping tools (ProtoPie, Framer, Figma Frame), and modern AI-assisted design workflows (Figma Make, Stitch AI, Cursor).
  • Experience building or contributing to a scalable Design System.

Data & Product Mindset

  • Fluent in interpreting data to guide design decisions, comfortable with analytics, funnel data, and user behavior metrics.
  • Experience designing for personalization, retention, and engagement.
  • Bonus: familiarity with AI-powered recommendations or context-aware weather design.

Mindset & Collaboration

  • Discovery-driven and relentlessly curious.
  • Systems thinker with strong sense for coherence across screens and devices.
  • Exceptional English communicator who can connect design rationale to user and business outcomes.
  • Fast, hands-on, and comfortable iterating in an experiment-driven environment.
