General Function:

Senior Digital Product Designers work across the Digital, Design & Innovation organization and collaborate with other designers, Product Owners, developers, stakeholders and other cross-functional partners to bring the future of Fifth Third Bank to life. Reporting to the Lead Digital Product Designer, the Senior Product Designer is an advocate for design thinking and user-centered approaches within an Agile environment.

In this role, the Senior Digital Product Designer is responsible for designing and user testing best-in-class digital experiences that are simple, flexible, delightful and secure. The position requires a designer with a proven track record of designing complex interactions that are simple to navigate, while using and contributing to a shared enterprise design system. Additionally, this role will help lead user-centered discovery and evaluative design research processes, as well as create information architectures, design patterns and prototypes that provide engaging experiences across devices.

Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. This position acts as the liaison between the Risk, Audit and Analytic teams. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Research, concept and design intuitive digital product experiences that simplify complex functionality.
  • Lead collaborative working sessions such as design thinking, story mapping and design sprints.
  • Create recommendations in the form of site maps, user flows, wireframes and interaction-based prototypes.
  • Advocate and guide user research activities, including usability testing and heuristic evaluations.
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to advocate user needs, as well as understand business goals and technical capabilities, to drive customer-centric strategies forward.
  • Work with development through implementation to ensure the desired user experience is carried through.
  • Contribute to process improvements and change management, evangelizing user-centered design and forward-thinking experiences.
  • Provide mentorship to interns/co-ops and new team members.

Knowledge, Skills & Ability Required:

  • BA or Certification in Design with a focus on user experience, interaction design, communications design or related field
  • 3 or more years of experience in a field that directly or readily translates to the responsibilities of this role
  • A portfolio of work that demonstrates a professional caliber of a skill related to the function of this role
  • Ability to own and articulate design decisions
  • Basic understanding of agile product development
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Exposure and/or training in Design Thinking principles and methodologies is advantageous
  • Identifies new opportunities by creating bonds of trust with team members, customers, and clients
  • Identifies opportunities for necessary/impactful changes and actively drives appropriate designs
  • Mentors across team in development and technical skills, as well as Design & Innovation methods
  • Demonstrates passion and focus on the total holistic customer experience, including all five senses.
  • Works iteratively. Decides and acts appropriately when all available information may not be possible to obtain. Makes small, informed decisions and course correct as a result of feedback to those decisions.
  • Innate curiosity and drive to understand the “why” behind customer problems
  • Understanding of analytics tagging and experience measurement methods a plus
  • Proficiency with prototyping tools such as Figma, and the Adobe Creative Suite
  • Expertise in usability, accessibility and responsive design best practices

Total Base Pay Range 69,800.00 - 143,100.00 USD Annual

The base salary for this position is reflective of the range of salary levels for all roles within this pay grade across the U.S. Individual salaries within this range will vary based on factors such as role, relevant skillset, relevant experience, education and geographic location. In addition to the base salary, this role is eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan, with any such payment based upon company, line of business and/or individual performance.
