Product Designer (12 Month FTC)

ROLE OVERVIEW

To design new products and product ranges from scratch or working on improvements to existing products in line with the companys product calendar. The products will mainly be apparel lines but some accessories and souvenirs may also be needed from time to time. Liaising with the buyers and product developers to ensure the product needs of the business and the partner client are met and executed.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

  • You will undertake market and trend research to identify key styles for each season.
  • The role will be heavily CAD focused and you will be expected to be proficient on Adobe, Illustrator, Photoshop and In-Design to produce detailed product design work.
  • You will liaise with the Category Management and Product Development to design ranges based on sales history, trend information and will also update existing core designs.
  • In partnership with Product Development you will check samples coming through from the factories and advise of any design alterations to keep in line with the Category Managers brief.
  • You will liaise with the Product Developer to ensure the products meet the brief and the design and work from a cost and margin perspective set by the business.
  • This is a fast-paced design role that requires excellent organisation skills, and a positive confident attitude.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM:

  • You will ideally have strong industry experience of designing apparel lines.
  • You will have a relevant apparel design related degree or suitable qualification and experience.
  • You will have experience of working with a variety of fabrics, both man-made and natural, including jersey, pique, woven, etc.
  • Ideally you will also have experience of some outerwear products in a sports related environment.
  • You will be fully conversant with adobe illustrator, photoshop and relevant software programs.
  • You will have excellent communication and organisation skills.
  • You will have experience of delivering to tight deadlines.
  • You will have strong attention to detail.
  • You will be able to mix your creative skills with a logical approach.
  • A keen interest in sport is desirable but not necessary.
