Key Responsibilities & Objectives
Key Objectives
- Drive Strategic Growth: Increase Website Conversion Rates through advanced UX patterns and persuasive design.
- Elevate User Satisfaction: Continuously improve ‘Direct Purchases CSAT and ‘Website Effort Score.
- Scalable Design Excellence: Lead the maintenance and expansion of the Fairphone Design System to ensure cross-platform consistency.
- Innovation Leadership: Integrating AI and emerging technologies into the design lifecycle to increase delivery velocity, scale hyper-personalisation, and future-proof design operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Full-Funnel Design: Own the UI/UX of the website, from high-impact product pages to more service-oriented flows.
- High-Fidelity Execution: Create developer-ready designs and prototypes that handle complex e-commerce logic and responsive layouts.
- Advanced Prototyping: Create high-fidelity prototypes and complex user flows that tackle difficult checkout and product discovery challenges.
- Design Mentorship: Provide guidance and constructive critiques to junior-level designers, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
- Audit & Governance: Conduct regular UX audits to ensure the site remains accessible, fast, and consistent with our brand values.

About your role
The Senior Product Designer Website is a high-level individual contributor responsible for the end-to-end user experience of Fairphones primary digital touchpoint: www.fairphone.com. You are the primary designer of the website, ensuring that our mission, our products, and our support services are delivered through a seamless, high-performing interface.
Working closely with the Head of eCommerce and the Product Owners, you turn business goals and user needs into seamless, accessible, and transparent digital experiences. While you collaborate with the Lead Digital Product Designer to ensure cross-platform consistency, your focus is the hands-on execution and optimization of the websites UX and UI.

- You are active in the Digital Product Design space. Contributing to the design community and constantly seeking ways to improve yourself and the team.
Core Activities
- Expert Design Mastery: Proven experience leading UX for large-scale e-commerce platforms using Figma and other advanced design systems.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to justify design decisions with data (GA4, Looker, Hotjar) and align them with commercial KPIs.
- Technical Literacy: Deep understanding of frontend/backend limitations, APIs, and how design impacts SEO and performance.
- Stakeholder Management: Exceptional ability to communicate vision to leadership and manage external stakeholder requests effectively.
- Agile Leadership: Deep knowledge of Scrum ceremonies and experience working in a fast-paced, iterative environment.
- AI Integration: Proficient in using Cursor and/or any other AI tool to optimise the design-to-code pipeline, automate repetitive tasks, and accelerate rapid prototyping. Experienced in leveraging AI for design system documentation and enhancing cross-functional handoffs.
