Envestnet Product Designer Position

Envestnet is seeking a Product Designer to join our Product department. This is a hybrid role, with in-office work required at our Raleigh, NC office location. Job Summary

The Product Designer participates in the development of overall design and specifications for creating and enhancing the experience and functionality of user interfaces and Envestnet’s products.

Job Responsibilities

Product Knowledge:

  • Ask good questions to clarify project objectives.
  • Understand basic project goals and present multiple paths forward early on.
  • Proactively identify gaps or improvement areas in problem definitions.
  • Understand the voice of the customer and leverage research to make well-informed product decisions.
  • Justify ideas based on evidence vs just intuition.
  • Start to understand and recognize industry patterns and trends.

Craft & Quality:

  • Demonstrate understanding of layout, typography, and visual hierarchy.
  • Use the Envestnet Design System, ensuring work is crisp and thorough.
  • Maintain a keen awareness of existing patterns, favoring familiarity over novelty.

Communication & Collaboration:

  • Actively ask questions to understand project/task goals.
  • Share design work at least once a week with team members and stakeholders.
  • Receive feedback well and rarely get defensive.

Action & Impact:

  • Regularly ship designs and understand their impact on customers.
  • Meet deadlines and work with the team to keep projects on track.

Leveling Up Others:

  • Regularly participate in design team meetings, critiques, and events.
  • Provide actionable feedback to other projects when possible.
  • Participate in hiring processes as needed.

Independence:

  • Begin to identify opportunities on your own and bring them to the team.
  • Adhere to and apply Envestnet policies, including timely completion of training & awareness, affirmations, and testing as requested.

Required Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of experience on a design team actively working through the entire product development lifecycle.
  • Experience producing and maintaining high-quality and easy-to-follow design specs in Figma.
  • Passion for building a deep understanding of your products’ customers, industry, and competitive landscape through independent research and customer research.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with product managers, engineers, and product marketing.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially during brainstorming solutions and sharing work for team feedback and alignment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in financial software.
