Job Overview

We are seeking UX Lead to own and elevate the user experience across our digital products. You’ll be responsible for defining UX strategy, leading a team of designers, and collaborating closely with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to deliver intuitive, accessible, and elegant software experiences.

The ideal candidate combines a strong UX design background with leadership ability and a deep understanding of user-centered methodologies, usability standards, and modern design systems. You will help set the vision, scale design processes, and champion the user's voice across all touchpoints. This role will report directly to the Software Development Leader and lead a team of offshore UX developers.

Key Responsibilities

UX Strategy & Vision: Define and articulate a user experience strategy aligned with product and business goals.

Design Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of UX and UI designers across multiple product lines.

Research & Discovery: Plan and conduct user research (interviews, testing, field studies) to gather insights that inform design decisions.

UX Architecture: Create and refine user flows, information architectures, wireframes, prototypes, and interaction models.

Design Systems: Establish and maintain scalable design systems, patterns, and style guides in partnership with engineering.

Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with product managers, full-stack developers, and data teams to ensure seamless integration of design into product workflows.

Accessibility & Usability: Ensure all designs adhere to accessibility standards (WCAG) and deliver best-in-class usability.

Advocacy: Champion design thinking and user-first perspectives within the team and across the organization.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of professional UX/UI experience, with at least 2 years in design leadership or team lead role.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing a range of user-centered design work, including web and mobile applications.
  • Familiarity with developer enablement platforms, data-heavy interfaces, or design for AI-enhanced systems.
  • Proficiency in modern design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, InVision).
  • Solid understanding of HTML/CSS, responsive design principles, and working knowledge of frontend frameworks (e.g., React).
  • Experience working with agile product teams and iterative development processes.
  • Strong communication, storytelling, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to balance strategic vision with hands-on design execution.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing tools for enterprise users or operational workflows (e.g., field management, construction, AEC).
  • Experience integrating usability testing, accessibility audits, and design system governance at scale.

Work Conditions

  • Prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing at a computer screen.
  • Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Occasional domestic travel, via airplane, will be required for meetings.
  • This is a hybrid role with most time being spent working from home. Attendance at important meetings and events at the local DPR office is required.

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Salary is just one component of DPR's total compensation package. DC/Boston - $139-239K. New Jersey - $128-219K
