About Dominion Dynamics

Dominion Dynamics is building Canadas first modern defence prime: software-defined, attritable, and sovereign. We believe tomorrows military power wont hinge on exquisite platforms, but on the seamless coordination of adaptable, AI-driven capabilities across every domain. Were building that family of systems, fielded with operators, sovereign by design, and accountable to Canadas democratic values.

We move fast, deploy with the CAF, especially in the Arctic, and operate with uncompromising respect for Canadian law, treaty obligations, and the CAF community. Our founding team includes former operators from Anduril, Google, Amazon, and the Canadian Armed Forces. Were building hard tech in hard places, and were looking for system-level thinkers who thrive at the intersection of autonomy, aerospace, and national security.

Why This Role Matters

As Dominion builds its first generation of sovereign autonomous systems, design cannot live in silos. The operator experience, mission software, and physical hardware must function as one cohesive system. This role closes the gap between digital and physical design, ensuring that what we ship to the field is intuitive under stress, manufacturable at scale, and resilient in extreme environments. In a mission where seconds matter and conditions are unforgiving, design is not aesthetics, it is operational performance.

The Role: Product Designer

This is a true 0→1 builder role. You will own end-to-end product design across both software interfaces and physical hardware systems. From operator dashboards and autonomy control interfaces to ruggedized enclosures and deployable systems, you will design experiences that work seamlessly across screen and steel.

Youll collaborate closely with software, hardware, autonomy, and field operators to shape products that are usable in Arctic cold, low-bandwidth environments, and time-sensitive missions. This is not a “pixel-only” design role, its systems design in the truest sense.

What Youll Do

  • Own end-to-end product design across digital interfaces and physical hardware systems.
  • Design intuitive UX/UI experiences for operator dashboards, mission control systems, and autonomy tools.
  • Translate mission requirements into wireframes, high-fidelity prototypes, and production-ready UI systems.
  • Create industrial design concepts for enclosures, control units, and deployable hardware platforms.
  • Develop 3D models and technical drawings using AutoCAD (and related tools) to support engineering and manufacturing.
  • Partner with mechanical and electrical engineers to ensure designs are manufacturable, ruggedized, and field-ready.
  • Conduct user research with operators and field teams to validate usability under real-world conditions.
  • Build and maintain a cohesive design system that spans both software and hardware touchpoints.
  • Rapidly prototype, test, and iterate in short development cycles.
  • Contribute to product strategy, balancing mission constraints, performance, and user experience.

What Youll Bring

  • 5+ years of experience in Product Design, with demonstrated strength in both UX/UI and Industrial Design.
  • A portfolio that shows shipped digital products and physical hardware or industrial design work.
  • Strong proficiency in Figma (or similar UX tools) for wireframing, prototyping, and design systems.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (required) and experience producing technical drawings for manufacturing.
  • Experience designing for complex, high-stakes environments (e.g., aerospace, robotics, defence, medical, automotive, or similar).
  • Ability to think in systems, understanding how software, hardware, and human interaction intersect.
  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally with engineering teams in fast-paced environments.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity and building from first principles.
  • High ownership, low ego, and mission alignment with Canadian sovereignty and defence modernization.
  • Canadian citizenship and eligibility for security clearance (required).
