About the Role

As our Founding Designer at Dex, youll shape the visual identity and brand presence of one of the most ambitious early-stage companies in the talent space. Dex exists to support top Engineers to find work they love, and the companies we connect them to, requiring careful thought on how we position to both a B2B and B2C audience.

Youll create visually compelling assets that build our brand, alongside impactful designs tailored to the companies hiring through Dex. This position is ideal for someone who blends strategic thinking with hands-on execution, and who can translate a big, mission-driven idea into clear, beautiful work that gets noticed, understood, and acted upon.

Youll collaborate closely with our marketing, content, and product teams to deliver high-performing, visually engaging assets, and youll act as the primary guardian of how Dex looks and feels everywhere it shows up. We prioritize creativity, clear communication, and rapid execution, and youll actively leverage cutting-edge AI tools to elevate both the quality and the pace of your work.

What Youll Do

  • Strategic creative vision: Shape and uphold a cohesive visual framework, bringing consistency and exceptional design quality to all marketing and brand assets.
  • End-to-end design ownership: Create high-quality visual assets for email, the Dex website, onboarding, and research/whitepapers.
  • Visual storytelling: Translate strategy, messaging, and copy into clear, compelling visual narratives that move people to act.
  • Rapid, agile execution: Comfortably manage multiple concurrent projects, delivering high-quality work at pace without sacrificing craft.
  • Design for performance: Iterate based on engagement data, A/B tests, and user behavior to continually raise the bar.
  • Motion design: Apply motion graphics skills to enhance digital assets and social content with engaging, dynamic visuals.
  • AI adoption: Integrate AI tools into your workflow to amplify creativity, efficiency, and quality.
  • Brand guardianship: Maintain and elevate brand consistency across every touchpoint, acting as the primary guardian of Dexs visual identity.

What were looking for

  • 5+ years experience as a graphic, brand, and/or digital designer, ideally exposed to both agency environments and working in a start-up, ideally within Tech, Software, or AI.
  • Exceptional hands-on design skills, demonstrated in a strong portfolio that emphasizes conceptual thinking, craft, commercial impact, and performance-driven digital assets.
  • Excellent attention to detail — from layout, hierarchy and typography through to final polish.
  • Strong brand sensibilities, ideally with experience building out brand architecture or design systems from scratch.
  • Expert in Figma, Framer, and Adobe Creative Cloud (primarily Photoshop and Illustrator).
  • Ability to execute motion graphics to elevate visual storytelling.
  • A highly proactive communicator, comfortable working autonomously while collaborating cross-functionally.

Nice to Have

  • Experience branding products targeting Engineers.
  • Advanced motion graphics skills.
  • Responsive web-design experience.

Interview process

We move quickly and with conviction. Broadly you can expect:

  • A 30m video call with our Internal Talent Lead; well describe the role and business in more detail before digging into your background to understand where your experience overlaps with our core requirements.
  • A call with the hiring manager for the role, where well share more context for the short and medium objectives in the role, and you can expect some deeper questions relative to the role requirements.
  • Most roles involve a practical task - more detail will be shared on the specifics, but usually these are completed offline and reviewed by the team.
  • An onsite interview loop where youll visit the office, meet a cohort of the team, have an interview centered on the task you produced, another on Dex culture and values, and meet with one of the senior team members or Paddy, our Founder.
