UX Director

Job Description

Merkle/Dentsu is seeking a UX Director with hands-on UX design skills. You will work with multiple internal departments to not only develop and drive strategy forward but will be self-sufficient in creating and producing deliverables and outputs. You’ll create UX wireframes, information architecture, high fidelity prototypes, and UI design deliverables for digital properties, global dot coms, emails, landing pages, and mobile apps. You’ll collaborate with other designers, strategists, project managers, and developers and work with a wide variety of clients, including a global electronics company, health and wellness company, and a national food supplier. You will report to the VP of Digital Integration. Chicago, New York, or Denver, CO location preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the thought leadership of an interdisciplinary team that includes strategists, UX engineers, SEO strategists, visual designers, copywriters, technologists, and project managers within gyro and our client counterparts.
  • Contribute to the creation and identification of personas, journeys, user goals, and business objectives.
  • Direct the creation of scenarios, wireframes, prototypes, workflows, interaction and experience models, and functional specifications, ensuring deliverables are client-ready.
  • Conceptualize and design user interfaces and information architecture.
  • Plan and conduct usability testing and evolve designs based on the findings.
  • Lead quality assurance testing activities from a UX perspective.
  • Aggregate and communicate research findings, conceptual ideas, detailed design, and design rationale, both verbally and visually.
  • Lead or participate in client presentations, providing an authoritative point of view with senior-level clients.
  • Act as a mentor to junior team members.
  • Assist in recruiting and business development.
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative research on user behavior to create recommendations based on data gathered.
  • Assist or lead experience ideation workshops with UX teams and clients, facilitating conversations and identifying unexpected insights.

Qualifications

  • At least 7 years of expertise in UX design, including a track record of impactful work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience and portfolio examples of complex design problem-solving efforts for sophisticated digital products or services (e.g., complex CMS implementations, eCommerce solutions, custom digital product or service solutions, omnichannel implementations, etc.).
  • Experience in conducting user research and usability testing.
  • Experience leading and managing teams of UX professionals.
  • Strong knowledge of user-centered design principles, methodologies, best practices, and approaches, particularly as applied to web and mobile-based properties and applications.
  • Strong Figma skills.
  • Ability to function as a thought leader as well as an individual contributor.
  • Commitment to constantly improving one’s skills, staying current with developments and trends in the industry, and sharing this knowledge with others.
  • Experience with design, prototyping, and handoff tools such as Axure, Sketch, Framer, and other tools.
  • Strong knowledge of channel factors and considerations (responsive web, native mobile and tablet, wearables).
  • Knowledge of web technologies and associated accessibility standards (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
  • Understanding of analytics and the ability to communicate how they affect design decisions.

Additional Information

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $113,000 - $182,850. Placement within the salary range is based on a variety of factors, including relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and other factors permitted by law.
