Job Description
This position helps deliver business objectives through the creation of superior, useful, and usable digital user experiences for CRC Group’s internal and external stakeholders. Through a design thinking approach, this position maintains a passion for design and is excited to contribute to the creation of best-in-class technologies and experiences that drive efficiency for the company and its clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with a cross-functional group of Product Owners and Business Analysts in user experience ideation and innovation.
- Influence product direction through a deep understanding of user needs obtained by directing user research priorities and developing user research plans, tracking, and utilizing user feedback, and monitoring and developing action plans.
- Partner with Product Managers, Product Owners, Business Analysts, and Data Analysts to evaluate target segments, user behaviors, track usability goals and prepare reports for senior management to communicate success.
- Create industry leading user experiences and interfaces that will be developed into prototypes and future products. Recommend and utilize user research on those experiences to track performance and prioritize future platform development plans.
- Brainstorm concepts, develop mockups, and run usability studies.
- Develop task flow, user storyboards, and other design documents to communicate vision, including generating simulations and high- and low-fidelity prototypes for user testing, market research, and business stakeholder reviews.
- Create navigation maps, flows, and diagrams to document design decisions.
- Create wireframes for design and development teams.
- Apply user experience standards, industry guidelines, interaction design principles, and best practices to ensure an efficient, effective, and consistent user experience.
- Generate user interface specifications and guidelines for website development in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Work hand-in-hand with UI Designer and UI Developers on project implementations.
- Support agile workflow with timely production and purposeful iteration.
- As requested, conduct competitive analyses of other websites, tools, or technologies within the insurance industry, Insurtech, and online experience leaders.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, visual design, interaction design, or equivalent education and related training.
- 6+ years of experience in UX or Interaction Design, creating UI frameworks, information architecture, user workflows, low- and high-fidelity interface prototypes, user interface specifications, and guidelines.
- 5 years of experience working in an agile environment.
Functional Skills
- Advanced skills with Sketch, Photoshop, or other design tools.
- Experience in UX research and ability to grow into end-to-end study execution.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the insurance industry, ideally commercial P&C.
- Hands-on experience with HTML and CSS.
- Experience directing and leading research efforts utilizing skills in experimental design and test moderation for various user research techniques including usability testing, competitive benchmarks, online surveys, interviews, focus groups, contextual inquiry, prototype walkthroughs, and card sorting.
- Experience with statistical analysis.
- Portfolio showcasing multiple examples of end-to-end design processes.
- Deep knowledge about human abilities, human limitations, and other human characteristics relevant to design and the ability to apply that knowledge to the design of digital interfaces, systems, tasks, and jobs for effective and efficient human use maximizing the strengths of humans and the strengths of computing systems and minimizing their weaknesses.
- Experience in influencing product direction through a deep understanding of user needs and usability obtained through user research.
- Knowledge of research techniques and understanding of when to use what technique to ensure validity of data collected when conducting research with human participants.
- Experience in creating user experience designs that create a competitive advantage and experience in scientifically measuring the effectiveness of those designs with end users.
- Experience with and ability to prototype in Axure, Invision, Figma, Adobe XD, or similar tools.
- Skills in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting quantitative and qualitative data.
- Strong collaboration, teamwork, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a cross-functional team.
- Ability to travel (<10%), occasionally overnight.
