What We Are Looking For:

We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer to lead both end-to-end experience design and the creation of our design system. This is a foundational role where you’ll help shape how design scales at our company – crafting intuitive product experiences while building the reusable systems that power them.

You’ll set a high bar for design quality and consistency, partnering across disciplines to ensure we create products that are not only usable but exceptional. You’re energized by building from scratch, passionate about systems thinking, and curious about emerging tools and technologies that can improve how we work and what we deliver.

As the driving force behind both our design system and product experience standards, you’ll play a key role in how we scale design as we grow. This is your chance to build something meaningful from the ground up, raise the bar for product quality, and help shape a design culture that values craft, clarity, and innovation.

This position is located in Richmond, VA and in office Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and lead the development of our design system – from component libraries and documentation to governance and implementation.
  • Design thoughtful, end-to-end user experiences that reflect clarity, consistency, and usability across complex workflows.
  • Establish and champion high standards of product design – visual polish, interaction quality, accessibility, and responsive behavior.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and other designers to shape strategy and deliver high-impact features.
  • Set up scalable processes and workflows that improve team efficiency and design quality.
  • Conduct research and testing to validate ideas and inform both product and system-level decisions.
  • Explore and bring in emerging design trends and technologies (like design tokens, AI tools, theming, and variable typography) that push our capabilities forward.
  • Mentor teammates and help cultivate a culture of craft, curiosity, and continuous improvement.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in design, HCI, or related field from an accredited, not-for-profit University or College.
  • 6+ years of experience designing digital products with a strong portfolio showcasing exceptional product thinking and system-level design.
  • Proven experience creating or scaling a design system, with a strong grasp of componentization, reusability, and cross-functional alignment.
  • Deep understanding of UX principles, interaction design, and accessibility best practices.
  • Proficiency in Figma, including component libraries, auto-layout, and design tokens.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills – able to clearly explain design decisions, influence without authority, and work fluidly with cross-functional partners.
  • A systems thinker with a strong sense of detail and craft.
  • A passion for exploring what’s next in design and technology and applying it thoughtfully to real product challenges.
  • A track record of commitment to prior employers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with front-end frameworks (HTML/CSS/React) and design to development workflows.
  • Experience in SaaS, B2B, or multi-product environments.
  • Knowledge of design operations, multi-brand systems, or token-driven architectures.

NOTE: This position requires that you present a portfolio of past projects as part of your application.
