What We Are Looking For:

We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer who’s passionate about UI design, visual systems, and scalable design architecture. In this foundational role, you’ll lead the creation of our design system while raising the bar for interface quality, accessibility, and consistency across our product suite.

You’ll bring deep craft in visual and interaction design, a sharp eye for detail, and the systems mindset to create reusable components that empower the full product team. If you care about interface polish, cross-platform consistency, and helping design teams work smarter, this is your opportunity to make a lasting impact.

As the person building the visual backbone of our design practice, you’ll shape how we scale quality, speed, and consistency across every product experience. You’ll bring design to life—not just as a craft, but as a system. If you love creating beautiful, usable UI that works at scale, this role is for you.

This position is located in Richmond, VA, and in-office Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and lead our design system, including component libraries, visual style guides, documentation, specifications, and governance processes.
  • Define and uphold a high standard of UI quality, ensuring interfaces are visually cohesive, accessible, and production-ready.
  • Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to implement scalable design solutions that serve real user needs.
  • Build patterns and UI libraries that work across multiple products, platforms, and screen sizes.
  • Partner with engineers to ensure pixel-perfect implementation and push design system adoption.
  • Bring a strong perspective on visual storytelling, brand expression, and UI responsiveness.
  • Stay ahead of emerging design tools, visual trends, and system technologies (e.g., design tokens, variable type, theming, and AI tooling).
  • Help mentor other designers and contribute to a growing, system-focused design culture.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in design, HCI, or related field from an accredited, not-for-profit University or College.
  • 6+ years of experience in product or interface design with a portfolio showcasing UI excellence and system thinking.
  • Proven experience creating or scaling a design system, with examples of components, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Expert-level visual and interaction design skills – typography, layout, spacing, hierarchy, and motion.
  • Strong knowledge of accessibility, responsive UI, and platform conventions (web, mobile, desktop).
  • Advanced proficiency in Figma including component systems, tokens, variables, and visual specifications.
  • A collaborative mindset and strong communication skills to influence across product, design, and engineering.
  • Curiosity about emerging trends and the evolving role of design systems in product development.
  • A track record of commitment to prior employers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in SaaS, enterprise, or multi-platform environments.
  • Comfort working with front-end frameworks like React, or familiarity with handoff and QA workflows.
  • Experience supporting or maintaining multi-brand/multi-theme systems.

NOTE: This position requires that you present a portfolio of past projects as part of your application.
