Professional Growth Opportunities

We are committed to your professional growth and leadership journey. Product Design Researchers in this role have the opportunity to rotate through diverse product teams, gain exposure to both foundational and tactical research, and participate in company-wide learning programs. Many researchers have gone on to lead product discovery initiatives, mentor new team members, and represent Cohesity in global research communities. Whether you aspire to deepen your craft, take on mentorship, or pilot new innovations, youll be encouraged and supported every step of the way.

A Typical Day

A typical day might start with running 1:1 customer interviews via Zoom—listening for unexpected needs and turning feedback into actionable hypotheses. You might then review Mixpanel analytics or NPS trends, surfacing a quick insight to share in a cross-team Slack channel. Later, youll facilitate a rapid research sprint or usability test with engineers and a PM, followed by synthesizing learnings into a succinct journey map or persona update. By the afternoon, you could join a global “Design Crit” call—presenting a design validation finding that prompts a pivot in UI direction for an upcoming release. Throughout, youll document new insights in our research library, and touch base with a peer youre mentoring in lean experimentation.

Responsibilities

As a Product Design Researcher, youll lead lean, user-centered research to drive value quickly while helping teams maintain a strategic perspective.

  • Designing and executing rapid qualitative and quantitative studies—including usability testing, design validation, and behavioral analytics—to deliver actionable insights at speed.
  • Taking hands-on ownership of product health and satisfaction metrics (Mixpanel, NPS, CSAT) and translating them into measurable product and business improvements.
  • Establishing and maintaining customer feedback loops; collaborating closely and remotely with cross-functional teams to iterate on solutions rooted in real user needs.
  • Synthesizing research into personas, journey maps, value canvases, and other strategic deliverables; ensuring research directly supports roadmap and business KPIs.
  • Facilitating collaborative workshops (e.g., Design Sprints) and sharing findings in compelling, succinct stories that influence teams and leadership.
  • Mentoring and upskilling colleagues, streamlining research processes, and supporting a culture of continuous discovery, rapid iteration, and inclusive design thinking.
  • Generating and communicating impactful insights through research sprints, usability studies, and fast analysis of customer and product data.
  • Tracking and reporting experience metrics, connecting analytics to product-market fit, feature adoption, and customer retention.
  • Participating in remote and cross-team workshops, advancing validated solutions quickly and efficiently.
  • Documenting and sharing research that influences both short-term deliverables and long-term strategic vision.
  • Fostering a learning environment by mentoring peers, establishing best practices, and championing inclusive, accessible research.
