Clearwater Analytics are hiring a
Product UX Design Intern
Job Summary
We are looking for a Product UX Design Intern to join our User Experience team and help design intuitive, efficient, and delightful product experiences for Clearwater Analytics customers. You will collaborate closely with product managers, UX designers, and engineers to turn complex workflows into simple, usable interfaces. This internship is ideal for a student or recent graduate who wants hands-on experience in an enterprise product environment, working on real features used by real clients.
What You’ll Do
- Partner with UX designers to understand business goals, user needs, and product requirements.
- Contribute to user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity mockups for new and existing features.
- Support user research activities (planning sessions, taking notes, synthesizing findings, and updating artifacts).
- Help create and maintain design system components, patterns, and documentation to ensure consistency across the product.
What We’re Looking For
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human–Computer Interaction (HCI), Interaction Design, UX Design, Product Design, Graphic Design, Cognitive Science, or a related field.
- A portfolio (school projects, personal projects, or prior internships) that demonstrates:
- Clear problem framing and understanding of user needs.
- Thoughtful interaction design and information architecture.
- Ability to explore multiple concepts and articulate design rationale.
- Concrete examples of using AI tools to make UX designers more efficient (e.g., AI-assisted wireframing, content generation, research synthesis, or design QA) with a clear before/after story.
- At least one example of designing AI into a software application (e.g., prompts, copilots, recommendations, or automation flows), showing how you handled trust, transparency, and user control. We’re looking for actual screens and flows in your portfolio, not just a written description.
- Deep familiarity with Figma for visual design, interaction design, and prototyping (we use Figma across the UX team).
- Basic understanding of user-centered design, usability principles, and accessibility best practices.
- Strong communication skills and comfort presenting your work and reasoning.
- Ability to take direction, respond well to feedback, and iterate quickly.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage time across multiple tasks.
Nice to Have
- Experience (coursework or projects) related to enterprise, fintech, or data-heavy products.
- Exposure to design systems and component-based design.
- Basic understanding of front-end technologies (HTML/CSS/JavaScript) and how designs are implemented.
- Experience with Figma prototyping for interaction design and usability validation.
- Familiarity with accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) and inclusive design principles.
- Produce clear interaction specs and handoff documentation for engineers.
- Participate in design critiques, incorporating feedback to refine your work.
- Assist with prototyping (low- and high-fidelity) to validate concepts with stakeholders and users.
- Collaborate with UX writers and content strategists to ensure clear, concise, and consistent in-product copy.
- Conduct competitive and comparative analyses to inform design decisions.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, documenting what worked, what didn’t, and why.
