UX Designer

Choice Hotels, one of the world’s largest lodging franchisors, has an exciting new opportunity as our UX Designer in the Revenue Management Domain. The team supports applications used by our business partners to onboard new hotels, maintain hotel data, and set up and distribute rate plans and rates for our hotel rooms. As a key member of our Revenue Management team, you will be a valued resource to assist in modernizing legacy systems, delivering software projects and enhancements, and participating in resiliency efforts to keep our portfolio of applications secure, stable, and highly available. Your Responsibilities

  • Create simple sketches and paper prototypes to illustrate your ideas.
  • Create low-fidelity wireframes.
  • Design detailed comps based on the Choice Amenity design system.
  • Annotate and translate key functionality to project teams and development.
  • As needed, provide consultancy-level advice and design thinking to stakeholders on user experience, usability, visual design, research, and information architecture.
  • Identify additional opportunities to improve the usability and flow of ChoiceHotels.com and mobile apps.
  • Monitor the success of your work through our A/B testing and analytics.
  • Continue to iterate on your hypothesis as needed to set a new baseline for our guests.
  • Partner with analytics to capture, synthesize, and leverage insights from customer insights tools.
  • Interpret guest data and feedback to help shape your hypothesis.
  • Leverage target audience insights to help further shape your vision.
  • Craft user journeys to help shape the flow and proper pathing of your experience.
  • Assist with discovery sessions, working directly with our research team and Choice guests.

Your Experience, Skills & Competencies

Education, Experience, Knowledge

  • An understanding and demonstration of user-centered design principles and methodologies.
  • Someone who enjoys solving problems from minor to complex.
  • 1-3 years of Web or UX Design experience working on responsive/adaptive websites. Marketing and e-commerce work is a plus.
  • Knowledge and skill in Figma, Sketch, or similar.
  • Comfortable providing and receiving objective feedback, and eager to solve problems collaboratively.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and raise questions when ambiguity arises.
  • Someone who is comfortable working directly with developers and engineers.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Skills

  • Skilled in Interaction and user experience design as demonstrated by work products.
  • Ability to create prototypes.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accept and implement feedback.

Abilities

  • Ability to quickly understand Choice's target audience's needs and other motivating factors and translate them into concepts for compelling interactions and experiences.
  • Ability to establish credibility and work collaboratively with developers, interdepartmental teams, vendors, and designers through execution.
  • Ability to design and iterate on deliverables with set timelines and sometimes multiple projects with differing timelines simultaneously.
  • Ability to thrive in the big picture and fine-detail worlds and adapt to and facilitate change.
  • Ability to think innovatively and anticipate guest needs based on a changing consumer landscape.
  • Ability to be a passionate user advocate and evangelize UCD within your project and client.

Your Team

This individual contributor role will report to the Senior Manager, Software Engineering, Revenue Management Domain. You will have five peer teammates and collaborate with cross-functional departments regularly.

Your Work Location

As our UX Designer, you will be based in our beautiful, state-of-the-art technology hub in Scottsdale, AZ. Choice opened this newly constructed world-class technology center in October 2021.
