Bakken & Bæck are hiring a
Lead Product Designer
About us
Bakken & Bæck is a design and technology studio that helps companies break new ground. Building digital products, brands and businesses, we help ambitious companies identify, explore and respond to new opportunities. As one team working out of Oslo, Amsterdam, Bonn, Barcelona, and London, we have all the skill-sets needed to help businesses adapt to an increasingly complex world.
We believe the best teams are driven by people with small egos and huge hearts. We strongly believe in flexibility, care deeply about craft, and are at our best working closely together. We want BB to be a place where you can try out new things with the risk of failing, where you can take ownership over your own work, and where there’s a low barrier for coming up with ideas — no matter your job title or discipline.
About the role
As a Lead Product Designer, you’ll drive projects from concept to launch - shaping both the product vision and the process that brings it to life. You’ll lead multidisciplinary teams and clients through complex challenges, turning ideas and technologies into clear, purposeful experiences.
You combine strong design craft with strategic thinking, bringing clarity and direction while leaving space for exploration. You set a high bar for quality, help others reach it, and play an active role in evolving the practice of product design at BB.
What you’ll do
- Leading product design on projects - defining vision, direction and outcomes
 - Translate complex technologies, audience insights and stakeholder ambitions into elegant, intuitive digital experiences - combining strong design craft with a clear sense of purpose
 - Create momentum and alignment from ambiguity - guiding multidisciplinary teams and clients with confidence and clarity
 - Mentor and support designers across levels, offering constructive feedback, guidance and opportunities for growth
 - Contribute to shaping the product design discipline at BB: introducing new tools and workflows, sharing perspectives, and maintaining a high standard of craft.
 - Collaborate with peers across disciplines to strengthen how we work together and deliver exceptional outcomes
 - Represent BB’s product design practice in client conversations, articulating ideas clearly and persuasively.
 - Work closely with ambitious clients pushing the limits of their fields - from early-stage startups to industry leaders

Who we’re looking for
- 6+ years of product design experience, with deep expertise across design and technology
 - Comfortable moving between vision and detail, connecting strategy and craft, ambition and pragmatism - aligning long-term vision with what’s needed now
 - Skilled at bringing clarity to complex problems and guiding teams toward confident decisions
 - Communicates clearly and proactively, building alignment and momentum across teams and clients
 - Leads by example - open, inclusive and decisive, setting a high standard for craft and collaboration
 - Experienced in leading fast-moving, multidisciplinary projects from concept to launch
 - Demonstrated interest in product strategy and storytelling
 - Genuine curiosity for new tools, emerging technologies and the evolving contexts in which they exist

Don't check every box? Apply anyway—we value diverse perspectives and unconventional paths and can be flexible for the right candidate.
What you can look forward to
- Independence — BB is an independently-owned studio. We have the freedom to orient towards the projects we believe in, create a culture that is driven by people with small egos and huge hearts, and invest in long-term relationships with partners whose ambitions match our own.
 - Autonomy — Our culture is built on autonomy, responsibility and mutual trust. Instead of being prescribed a way to do things, we have the freedom to explore and develop our own methods and approaches, and to learn by doing.
 - Flexibility — We all have different needs when it comes to how we work. We are flexible on working hours, open to workations, and can provide opportunities to relocate to one of our other offices, as long as it doesn't hinder our projects and our team’s progress.
 - Continuous Learning — We want to invest in your growth. You will receive an annual allowance to invest in a course, class or conference — whatever you need to stay inspired and learn new things.
 - Doing things together — Collaboration lies at the core of our culture. Whether through trips or team dinners, we prioritise bonding experiences across offices when we can, fostering camaraderie and creativity.
 - Our offices — We have invested in creating welcoming spaces that provide our teams with what they need. Beyond the day-to-day, we use our offices to host team events, talks and parties.

Because we want our team members to be actively involved in our offices, we do not consider remote applicants. Candidates must either be located in or have the ability to relocate to one of our office locations.
