A Lead UX Designer plays a pivotal role in shaping user experiences for experience layer tooling for internal personas. This position involves leadership, strategic thinking, and hands-on design work to create user-friendly, innovative, and accessible solutions that align with business goals. Below is a detailed job description for this role:
As a Lead UX Designer, you will be responsible for leading the design and development of user-centered experiences across multiple platforms. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and leverage industry best practices to create cutting-edge solutions that enhance user satisfaction and drive business success. You will also act as a thought leader and advocate for design excellence within the organization.
What you’ll do
- Define and implement a UX vision and strategy that aligns with business objectives and customer needs.
- Advocate for user-centered design principles and accessibility across all projects.
- Partner with stakeholders (Tech Product Owners, Developers, Researchers) to ensure designs meet business goals and technical constraints as part of solution development.
- Conduct user research through interviews, surveys, focus groups, and usability testing to understand target audiences.
- Analyze behavioral data and user feedback to inform design decisions.
- Identify and prioritize opportunities to improve existing user experiences.
- Design design thinking workshops to explore how to create transformational experiences.
- Bridge the evolving landscape of platform, GenAI and Agentic experience design, as you partner with the Platform Transformation and AT&T Business Agentic Foundry teams.
- Architect information hierarchies, navigation structures, and workflows to optimize usability.
- Partner with business partners and technical product owners to ensure seamless implementation of designed experiences as part of capability product development.
- Work closely with cross-functional stakeholder teams to define project scope and timelines.
- Present designs and articulate design decisions to leadership and stakeholders.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.
- Experiment with new tools and methodologies to improve design processes.
- Drive innovation in user experience by exploring creative solutions to complex problems, particularly in the area of AI tools.
What you’ll need
- 5+ years of experience in design thinking and UX/UI design.
- Proven track record of designing successful experience designs that cross multiple platforms.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in design tools (e.g., Figma/Fig Jam, Mural, Miro, Sketch, Adobe XD).
- UX Expertise:
- Deep knowledge of user research methodologies, usability testing, and data analysis.
- Expertise in information architecture, interaction design, and visual design.
- Familiarity with accessibility standards and inclusive design.
- Soft Skills:
- Exceptional communication and storytelling skills to convey design ideas effectively.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and critical thinking.
- Leadership skills to inspire and guide cross-functional teams.
Education
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Management Information Systems (MIS), UX Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, or a related field.

Our Lead UX Designer earns between $143,800 - $215,800. Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
