UI / UX Developer TS SCI + Poly

Clearance Requirement: Active TS/SCI with polygraph required. Candidates without current clearance will not be considered. Employment is contingent on clearance verification.

Were looking for a seasoned UI/UX Designer to drive human-centered design for mission-critical government applications. Youll own the entire design process—from user research and strategy through prototyping and final delivery.

The right candidate combines strong UX research capabilities with exceptional visual design skills and thrives working within government program constraints. Youll partner with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to create intuitive, accessible interfaces grounded in validated user needs.

What Youll Do:

User Research & Analysis - Design and execute research initiatives including user interviews, usability studies, and feedback sessions with analysts, subject matter experts, managers, and data scientists.
Transform research into personas, journey maps, workflow diagrams, and actionable design recommendations.
Communicate findings effectively to gain stakeholder alignment in government contexts.
Maintain ethical research practices suitable for classified and sensitive environments.
UX Strategy & Design Systems. Drive UX and UI for high-impact, complex applications.
Build and evolve design systems and component libraries alongside engineering.
Establish scalable interaction patterns and design standards across product suites.
Develop service blueprints and experience maps to align cross-functional efforts.
UI Design & Prototyping.
Create interactive prototypes in Figma, Adobe XD, or similar tools to test concepts and validate flows.
Deliver polished, accessible UI designs with strong visual consistency.
Meet WCAG accessibility standards and government design requirements.
Document interaction details, design rationale, and interface copy for development teams.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Design, HCI, Psychology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
5+ years professional UI/UX design experience.
Proven track record conducting UX research—not just UI execution.
Expert proficiency in Figma, Adobe XD, or equivalent tools.
Strong collaboration experience with product and engineering teams.
Clear communication of design decisions and research insights to diverse stakeholders.
Available for full-time onsite work in McLean, VA.

Preferred Qualifications:

Portfolio showcasing UX research methodology and high-quality UI design.
Background designing for government or mission-critical systems.
Knowledge of WCAG and inclusive design principles.
Experience building or maintaining design systems.
Understanding of modern front-end frameworks and component-based development.
Experience designing for data-intensive or analytical workflows.
