Amazon are hiring a

User Experience Designer, WWGST - Under the Roof Technology

We are looking for a UX Designer to join our Worldwide Grocery Stores Technology (WWGST) Under the Roof Technology organization. In this role, you will design products and experiences for our stores technologies — helping shape how associates, team members, operators, and customers interact with grocery technology across our physical store network.

Key job responsibilities

  • Partner with product managers, engineers, and operations stakeholders to understand business and customer needs, translating them into intuitive design solutions for stores technologies.
  • Conduct user research — including field studies, interviews, and usability testing — with store associates and customers to inform design decisions.
  • Create wireframes, user flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs that communicate interaction and visual design intent.
  • Deliver end-to-end design solutions across web, handheld devices, and mobile from concept through launch.
  • Contribute to and maintain design systems and patterns that ensure consistency across WWGST products.
  • Iterate on designs based on user feedback, data insights, and stakeholder input to continuously improve the Team Member and customer experience.
  • Present design work and rationale to cross-functional teams and leadership, clearly articulating trade-offs and recommendations.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams to ensure design intent is preserved through implementation.

A day in the life

As a UX Designer on the Worldwide Grocery Stores Technology (WWGST) Under the Roof Tech team, no two days look the same — but your focus is always on making store technology work better for the people who use it every day.

You might start your morning reviewing research findings from a recent store visit, synthesizing observations of how operators delight our customers. By mid-morning, youre in a design review with your product manager and engineering lead, walking through wireframes for a new tool that helps team members manage our store operations. Youll discuss trade-offs, flag edge cases, and align on what to test next.

After lunch, you join a cross-functional working session with operations and program managers to understand an upcoming launch and its unique constraints — different store formats, varying operator workflows, and real-world conditions like limited connectivity or shared devices. You translate these constraints into design requirements and sketch out early concepts.

Later in the day, youre iterating on a prototype in Figma, preparing for a usability session with team members next week. You check in with your design peers to get feedback and ensure your patterns align with the broader WWGST design system.

Your internal stakeholders include product managers, software engineers, and operations leaders across grocery store formats. Your customers are the operators and team members who rely on these tools to fulfill orders accurately and efficiently — and ultimately, the grocery customers who expect a seamless shopping experience. The problems you solve sit at the intersection of complex physical operations and intuitive digital experiences, making technology feel invisible so team members can focus on what matters most: serving customers.

About the team

We build technology that delights our store operators and customers. We are part of the broader Worldwide Grocery Stores Tech (WWGST) organization with a vision to be the most loved grocer, saving customers time and money.
