Sr. UX Designer, Project Kuiper
Project Overview
Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.
Role and Responsibilities
As a Sr. UX Designer, you will be a valuable member of Project Kuiper’s Customer Devices Experiences team. You will:
- Define and design exceptional user experiences that delight our customers across the globe.
- Deliver beautiful and compelling user interface designs used by customers across various market segments and industries.
- Own defining the user journey and user experience for a collection of use cases that span multiple product interfaces and device form factors.
- Drive impact as part of a large growing cross-functional team (including product and program managers, software and hardware engineers, business development and marketing managers, and industrial designers).
- Establish and/or utilize design systems as part of the design workflow.
- Collect user insights and feedback to validate designs.
- Conduct generative and evaluative research (interviews, observational studies, contextual inquiry, usability testing, accessibility audits, etc.).
- Lead internal and external design workshops and design discovery activities.
- Synthesize a variety of inputs into experiences and designs that customers love.
Export Control Requirement
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Design customer journey flows and low, medium, and high-fidelity user interface mockups/wireframes.
- Lead cross-functional design review meetings for input and sign-off on design artifacts.
- Create design briefs, proposals, reports, and executive summaries as needed.
- Provide design clarification and consultation to engineers during UX feature development.
- Provide design assets for the Kuiper Marketing Team for external-facing materials.
- Participate and provide input in product change control processes post-launch.
- Deliver design solutions for large scope and complexity projects.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in HCI, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, or equivalent design-related field; or commensurate experience.
- 6+ years of UX design or interaction design experience.
- 6+ years of design experience creating mockups, wireframes, and prototypes for web and mobile applications and/or workflows.
- Experience using tools such as Sketch or Figma for prototyping design concepts.
- Proficient in designing and using design systems and design frameworks.
- Available online portfolio demonstrating design deliverables (personas, journey maps, wireframes, and prototypes).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing consumer-facing or enterprise experiences.
- Experience advocating for best practices for accessible UX, with experience designing for federal 508 Compliance a plus.
- 4+ years of experience collaborating with product managers, developers, and/or stakeholders.
- Experience in the complete product development lifecycle of successfully launched applications.
- Ability to prototype in environments like HTML, JavaScript, and CSS is a plus but not required.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Adobe Creative Cloud experience (Photoshop, Illustrator, or similar) is a plus.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated history of conducting user research or assisting with the collection of user insights and feedback.

Compensation
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $127,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $211,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Depending on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be included in a total compensation package, along with a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
