The Prime Video Experience Design

The Prime Video Experience Design is seeking a highly skilled, customer-obsessed Principal Designer to focus on product areas that include personalization, search, and content exploration features, particularly focusing on Generative AI, assistant and multi-turn experiences. We want someone who can push design and product thinking to the technical edge where vision may be unclear and product ideas risky, but opportunities to bring novel UX to ground-breaking technology exist.

This role is for a hands-on leader who establishes a vision and strategy across a major product or multiple product areas, scales their impact by empowering other designers on the team, and is a key driver of long term design strategy. You will develop strong relationships with fellow Design Leaders and Product and Engineering counterparts throughout the product development process to launch bar-raising experiences for customers around the world. You will mentor more junior designers to raise the design craft across the organization.

The right candidate

The right candidate leads by doing and has a passion for solving problems at massive scale. You excel through innovation, creativity, and attention to detail. You are a proven strategic thinker and collaborator who flourishes in a large organization. You sincerely believe that design is more than how something looks, but also how it feels and functions. You enjoy turning customer insights into novel solutions.

Key job responsibilities

  • Be a strong design advocate across the entire Prime Video team and a bar raiser for quality of work.
  • Analyze customer problems and design delightful solutions that meet measurable business goals.
  • Work closely with product and engineering teams to develop use cases and high-level requirements.
  • Quickly, yet thoroughly, create process flows, wireframes, and visual design output as needed to effectively conceptualize and communicate detailed interaction behaviors.
  • Create user-centered designs by considering market analysis, customer feedback, site metrics, and usability findings.
  • Develop and maintain detailed user-interface specifications.
  • Present design work to the user experience team, product team, and project stakeholders for review and feedback.
  • Partner with development teams to build experiences: provide appropriate design specifications, create assets, and review finished interfaces.

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of Design experience.
  • Experience with best practices for User Interface Design, Information Architecture, and Interaction Design.
  • Experience in life cycle design projects from design strategy through execution.
  • Have an online portfolio.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 12+ years experience in Design.
  • Deep technical curiosity and extensive experience working with engineering teams.
  • Experience on GenAI, search and/or personalization strategy, vision and delivery.
  • Experience providing and effectively communicating strategic and tactical recommendations based on data.
  • Experience working with distributed teams, across multiple time zones.
  • Master’s degree in design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or equivalent.
  • Experience working with entertainment and technology development companies.
