This is a senior individual contributor role that sits at the intersection of design excellence, AI innovation, and organizational change — helping teams move from awareness to transformation in how they design, build, and ship AI-native experiences.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Champion AI-native design practices across AWS service teams, helping designers move from static screen design to designing adaptive, agentic, and intelligent systems.
  • Lead workshops, pairing sessions, and hands-on enablement programs to build AI design fluency across the org.
  • Build psychological safety and an experimental culture where teams feel empowered to try, learn, and iterate with AI tools.
  • Partner with design leadership to establish guardrails, quality standards, and governance frameworks for AI-assisted design workflows.
  • Advocate for responsible, trustworthy, and transparent AI experience design — ensuring AI-driven products feel intuitive and human-centered.
  • Contribute to the AI Design Maturity Model for the org, tracking progress from Awareness → Experimentation → Integration → Transformation.
  • Publish articles, frameworks, and perspectives on AI-native design leadership.
  • Connect AWSs internal design initiatives with the broader professional design community.

Strategic Alignment & Stakeholder Communication

  • Translate AI design capabilities and outcomes into compelling narratives for senior leaders and cross-functional partners.
  • Advise on the strategic direction of AI design investment and raise the bar for designs role in organizational intelligence.
  • Build and maintain a centralized knowledge hub for AI design tools, best practices, and case studies.
  • Mentor and grow a network of design advocates embedded across AWS service teams.

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of design experience.
  • Knowledge of HTML and CSS.
  • Have an available online portfolio.
  • Experience integrating UX research into customer experience, team culture, development process, and design principles.
  • Experience in managing UX Design and rapid prototyping efforts.
  • Experience working cross-team and synthesizing feedback and input from marketing and product management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of a variety of design tools including Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop.
  • Experience in creating UX for brand new products.
  • Experience presenting work using functional prototypes built with InVision, Axure, HTML/CSS/JS, or similar.
  • Experience designing for mobile platforms.
